Celebrant-led Baby Naming:

Celebrant-led baby naming ceremonies are an exciting and one-of-a-kind alternative to standard religious ceremonies and christenings.

Ceremonies are always a great opportunity to get loved ones together and a baby naming ceremony, albeit slightly less formal and in-depth as a wedding, is of no exception; they are the perfect opportunity to celebrate the miracle of life and formally welcome a new baby into the family.

In my latest baby naming ceremony, I loved getting to know the couple and their little boy; from our first tentative chat on the phone, to email exchanges, zoom planning meetings, voice notes and texts, the whole process of planning this ceremony was utter joy. I was excited to meet the family for the first time at the ceremony and also get to know Grandparents, of whom I’d heard so much about.

Baby Naming Venue in West Yorkshire

The ceremony took place at ‘Bambinis Play’ in Birkenshaw, West Yorkshire. Bambinis is a charming and intimate play space which, with it’s muted, sage green hues, houses a calm and welcoming Montessori inspired play space.

The ceremony took place on a beautiful Spring morning; the sunshine glistening off the majestic Spring frost, crocuses were unfolding and snow drops coming into bloom; the merry bird song spread joy and hope. Just as we honoured the arrival of Spring, we also celebrated new life…Harry’s life.

Deciding to opt out of a religious ceremony, his parents: Sophie and Tom, along with their close family and friends, chose to honour Harry’s birth, reflect on his first precious year of life and celebrate their life-changing journey into parenthood with a heartfelt and personalised naming ceremony.

Together, with all of their loved ones watching on, Sophie, Tom, Harry and I celebrated the beautiful union between family and life. The ceremony was bursting with love and was full of symbolic moments: Guide parents made promises to Harry along with his Grandparents and his Great Nanny Sandra read a beautiful poem: ‘9 wishes on your naming day.’

As part of the ceremony script, I told ‘Harry’s story’ which I addressed as a letter to Harry. I talked about his birth, regaled amusing stories from his first 12 months earthside and talked about how his arrival had brought his parents indescribable joy, changing their lives forever.

Sophie and Tom had organised a time-capsule to be available on the day for guests to add their well-wishes following the ceremony. I also added my script to this along with a copy of the reading. The time-capsule would then be opened on Harry’s 18th birthday; what a wonderful way to look back, give thanks and reflect on what turned out to be a really special afternoon.

Everyone enjoyed the ceremony; there were tears of joy and lot’s of laughter. Harry was on perfect form as always; lighting up the room with his infectious smile and spreading happiness to all who loved him.

It was the greatest honour to curate this naming ceremony; I never take for granted the trust couples place in me and go above and beyond to ensure the ceremony perfectly reflects their taste and style.
