A stylish Micro Wedding Ceremony at The Faversham, Leeds.
A Celebrant Wedding in Leeds, UK.
As a wedding celebrant specialising in beautiful and personalised wedding ceremonies in Leeds, West Yorkshire, this was actually my first ceremony at The Faversham - an illustrious wedding venue in the city. Safe to say, it didn’t disappoint.
The Faversham is a well known venue space situated in the heart of Leeds's vibrant student community. It’s stylish, adaptable and award-winning - and understandably so! I’ve actually been lucky enough to visit The Faversham many times, over the years, for various types of gatherings including christenings and engagement parties and small networking events. But for the first time, I was delighted to visit -finally- with my celebrant badge on!
Scott and Liv had their celebrant wedding with me at The Faversham, one sunny Saturday in June, 2025. As I took in their designated ceremony room for the first time, with the afternoon sun streaming in through the large conservatory windows, I could see instantly why Scott and Liv had chosen it for their special day. As a young couple who required a wedding venue which offered intimacy as well as style, The Faversham ticked all their boxes.

A Micro Wedding for a Magnificent Couple.
Scott proposed to Liv during a holiday to Barcelona. Their engagement, which took place on the roof top bar of the Hotel where they were staying at the time, was gloriously private. With absolutely no-one else around, Scott fell to one knee and they cried happy tears immersed in their own little bubble.
When it came to planning their wedding, Liv knew she’d want to share her personal declarations of love to Scott with a similar level of privacy. As someone who shied away from unnecessary attention, a ‘micro wedding’ with only their immediate family and two very close friends in attendance, would be more than enough for their wedding ceremony.

Small weddings or ‘micro weddings’, like theirs, always feel extra special. There’s something about that close-connection on the day; witnessing the power that comes from strong family networks and feeling the collective love for the happy couple.
The Faversham in Leeds.
The Faversham in Leeds is a wonderfully characterful wedding venue. It is independently owned; located near many student buildings of the University of Leeds and, just a 10 minute walk into the City-Centre.
What I love about The Faversham, is the clever way it blends historic charm with a cool, modern edge - an aesthetic so often desired by many of the couples with which I work.
It’s an ideal wedding venue for couples looking for a relaxed, contemporary atmosphere where they can really add their own sense of style.

Scott and Liv’s micro wedding ceremony took place in the light-filled conservatory, which boasts so many incredible botanicals - I had major house plant envy!
And as you can see from the picture below, the ceremony room was small enough to make the room feel intimate but large enough to seat immediate family with ease.

The day was coordinated by the small team of suppliers who work at The Faversham. They are clearly well-practised at ensuring your wedding day runs smoothly, leaving no stone unturned and managing the day effortlessly whilst also going unnoticed in the background.

A Personal and Emotional Wedding Ceremony.
As Scott and Liv’s chosen wedding celebrant, it was so important to me that I capture their love story with as much authenticity as possible. To do this, I spent a lot of time getting to know the happy couple before their big day.
We met, ahead of their wedding, for a pre-ceremony planning meeting at The Queens Hotel, Leeds, West Yorkshire. What was expected to last an hour turned into three. We got on so well; they felt like old friends.
During the meeting, we talked at length about their relationship and specifically of how we could weave in their important ‘little details’ (which often go unnoticed in a legal ceremony) to ensure their ceremony felt as personalised and as impactful as possible.
Once I’d drafted the first edit of their ceremony script, I shared it with them - via zoom - to ensure they were happy with what I’d curated, giving them the chance to make any necessary changes. Fortunately, they loved it.

“Michelle was great, listening to our stories. We met for an hour catch up before the wedding, which turned into three hours we were having such a good time. Chatting away, telling stories about out time together”
Ceremony Details:
Here’s how I made their wedding ceremony feel as bespoke and unique as possible:
A personalised welcome and introduction.
Lighting of a remembrance candle ahead of the ceremony; the light of the candle acting as a reminder to us all to hold the memories of loved ones close in our own hearts and minds.
A beautiful poem which was read by Scott’s sister. The poem was chosen as a nod to Scott and Liv’s love of travel and acknowledging the way their relationship has blossomed gently over time.
"Wedding Poem" by Whitney Hanson Poetry
They say that sometimes
love starts with a spark.
And that might be true,
but if I were to wish you a love,
I wouldn't wish fire for you.
You see, fire is powerful.
It burns bright and then it's gone.
It's beautiful and warm,
but it doesn't last long.
So instead of wishing you a love that burns,
I wish you a love like a river twists and turns.
It changes and it flows,
It is powerful and free.
But it consistently finds its way back to the sea.
And so like the water,
I hope your love is ever growing, ever changing.
I hope your love is powerful and free,
And may you always find each other,
Like a river finds the sea.
The sharing of their light-hearted and sentimental love story.

A celebrant wedding to remember
Shortly after their wedding ceremony, Scott and Liv were joined by all their friends for their wedding reception. The beauty of The Faversham is its versatility - offering space for a drinks reception and somewhere to dance late into the night.
It was an absolute joy to work with Scott and Liv. They are a beautiful couple and their kindness radiates in so many ways; it’s clear to see why their family and friends adore them.
I love how their story showcases the magic of a micro-wedding; a beautiful way to minimise nerves and pressure on the day whilst ensuring the impact and significance of the day isn’t lost. Proof that a micro wedding is in no way less memorable.
Thank you Scott and Liv. I wish you a lifetime of health and happiness. I really do consider you both friends now; it was an absolute privilege to tell your love story.
And a special thanks for Scott and Liv’s generosity when it came to sharing their wedding pictures, expertly captured by their talented photographer: David Lindsley Photography.
“All my friends and family said how beautiful and personal the ceremony was and Michelle’s delivery of the script was amazing. ”
